The contract includes the option for two additional ships. According to the contract, Scanship will provide systems to handle waste management, food waste processing and advanced wastewater treatment.

Scanship CEO Henrik Badin said: “We are delighted to continue working with Fincantieri and MSC. “Together, we will ensure that these new ships meet the highest IMO Marpol environmental standards and meet specific and environmentally sensitive areas such as the Baltic Sea and Alaska waters.

“The message is that the industry will continue to focus on our oceans’ health and is committed to achieving long-term sustainable growth.”

“Since May, we have received orders for seven new vessels with a total value of €24.2m and a further five optional vessels with a total value of €9.2m. Vow plans to release the first half report on 26 August, which will give an update regarding the total backlog.

Last year, Scanship secured a contract from French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique to supply clean tech systems for its cruise ships. According to the agreement, Scanship will provide its marine solution for four cruise vessels, which are being built at the shipyard in Saint Nazaire.
