PASSUR and Raytheon collaborate to improve airport efficiency

Business intelligence company PASSUR Aerospace and American defense contractor Raytheon have announced a new collaboration on measures to improve airspace and airport efficiency.

The companies are seeking to improve the predictability of air travel, increase efficiencies for airlines, and create a safer, more hassle-free travel experience for passengers.

Raytheon’s air traffic management systems will be integrated with PASSUR’s business analysis and predictive analytics decision support software.

PASSUR argues that the integration of both companies’ capabilities will result in a robust automation platform that will allow enhanced flight data to be processed and distributed among tower control positions.

The platform will also help manage air traffic positions from cruise, to approach, to surface traffic management, and commercial and recreational aircraft operators.

This partnership brings added data and analytics into the system while streamlining airport air traffic systems.

As a result, it will be possible to provide reliable and more predictive information to airport operators, airlines and passengers.

Raytheon air traffic systems vice-president Jim McCoy said: “Rapid access to better information enhances safety, efficiency and the curb-to-curb travel experience.”

PASSUR president and CEO Jim Barry said: “Passengers and operators are rightfully demanding a more predictable air travel experience.

“Through the Raytheon and PASSUR collaboration, we achieve this objective and bring enhanced reliability to everyone involved,” Barry said.

Raytheon and PASSUR plan to demonstrate their collaborative efforts at the Communicating for Safety conference in March.
