Barcelona to Host FIATA European Congress in 2027

AI Summary

The International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) will hold its European Congress in Barcelona in June 2027, coinciding with the 29th edition of SIL Barcelona, taking place from 9 to 11 June at Fira Gran Via. This milestone further reinforces SIL Barcelona’s position as a global meeting point for the logistics sector, bringing together business leaders, industry associations, institutional representatives and top experts from across Europe and the world’s leading international markets. The announcement was made today by FIATA Director General Stéphane Graber during the FIATA World Congress 2026, held from 6 to 9 October in Milan (Italy), where the organisation celebrated its 100th anniversary.

El Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) has secured the organisation of this prestigious international event, which will be held alongside SIL Barcelona and will turn the Catalan capital into Europe’s leading meeting point for freight forwarders, logistics operators, cargo agents, shippers, ports, airports and companies linked to the global supply chain. Barcelona’s selection as host city of the FIATA European Congress is a significant recognition of the city’s international leadership in logistics, mobility and international trade, as well as of SIL Barcelona’s standing as one of the world’s leading logistics events.

Pere Navarro, Executive State Delegate of the CZFB and President of SIL Barcelona, together with Blanca Sorigué, CEO of the CZFB and General Director of the SIL Barcelona, attended the FIATA World Congress in Milan, where Barcelona’s appointment as host of the next European edition was officially confirmed.

The Executive President of the CZFB, Pere Navarro, welcomed Barcelona’s appointment as the venue for the FIATA European Congress, stating that: “The selection of Barcelona to host the FIATA European Congress is an international recognition of the strength of our logistics ecosystem and of the work carried out over many years to position the city as one of the world’s leading logistics hubs. Holding the congress alongside SIL Barcelona will bring together the foremost representatives of the international logistics industry in Barcelona and create new opportunities for collaboration and business development across the sector.”

For her part, the CEO of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué, highlighted that: “The hosting of the FIATA European Congress will attract talent, knowledge and high-value international connections to Barcelona. It will be an exceptional opportunity to showcase to the world the innovative capacity of our logistics ecosystem and to further strengthen the global profile of SIL Barcelona as a leading platform for innovation in logistics and supply chain management.”

In this way, internationalisation will remain one of the main pillars of SIL Barcelona, which will place in the spotlight what is currently driving transformation and competitiveness throughout the supply chain: applied innovation, while advancing its new brand positioning as the Logistics Innovation Exhibition.

The new Logistics Innovation Exhibition

At the close of its most recent edition, SIL Barcelona announced the beginning of a new strategic phase, marked by a profound repositioning that will be fully realised in its 2027 edition. The event will evolve into the Logistics Innovation Exhibition, consolidating its role as a platform for inspiration, knowledge exchange and business generation, where the future of supply chains and international trade is anticipated and shaped.

This qualitative leap responds to the accelerated transformation of the logistics sector, driven by the adoption of advanced technologies, sustainability, digitalisation and the growing need for specialised talent. In this context, SIL Barcelona is no longer simply a sector gathering. It is becoming the place where the evolution of the industry is showcased, experienced and understood in real time. The new SIL remains a logistics, business and international trade event, while expanding its ability to present the solutions transforming the industry and connecting operators, shippers, industry, technology providers, service companies and talent.

Above all, the new SIL will strengthen the presence of professionals with decision-making authority and direct influence over investment and corporate transformation. In addition to logistics, supply chain, transport, distribution, intralogistics, operations and international trade leaders, it will attract executive and strategic profiles such as CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, COOs, innovation and digital transformation leaders, technology, sustainability, data, procurement and business development directors, among many others.
