Finland’s Deltamarin introduces new container vessel design

AI Summary

Finnish ship design firm Deltamarin has introduced a new container vessel design, the A.Delta2300, which is the first vessel of this series developed to offer better cargo capacity, flexibility and fuel economy.

The new design offers a flexible platform for a whole series of designs that will result in the delivery of customised vessels.

Deltamarin sales director Vesa Hamarila said: “The overall efficiency and flexibility of this container vessel design provides the owners and operators with a solution for future transportation needs.”

The development work for this new design was supported by AVIC Weihai Shipyard and DNV GL reviewed and commented on the design, the company stated.

With a container capacity of 2,322TEU in five cargo holds and on deck, A.Delta2300 delivers enhanced cargo hold breadth that improves stability in the fully laden condition.

The ballast-free approach will result in an increased utilisation rate of around 73% of nominal container intake in the homogeneous loading condition at scantling draught carrying a 14tTEU container.

This 188.60m-long and 30.95m-wide vessel with high flexibility offers wide container stowage as well as three tiers of high cube containers in the cargo hold. High number of reefer plugs provides smart stowage and minimise unnecessary container movements.

Deltamarin claims that the effective hull form will make sure low resistance along with high propulsion efficiency.

The vessel features superior fuel efficiency of 0.033t/TEU/day as its main engine consumes 42t/day at a 19k service speed.
