Ringway Jacobs wins £140m highways maintenance contract in Bedfordshire, UK

Ringway Jacobs has secured a £140m highway maintenance contract from Central Bedfordshire Council in the UK.

As part of the seven-year deal, Ringway Jacobs’ work is worth between £10m and £20m per annum starting from April next year.

With this contract, the council will have greater control and influence of what happens on its highways network.

Central Bedfordshire Council executive member for community services councillor Brian Spurr said: “We are all very much looking forward to working with Ringway Jacobs and the new contract ties in with the council’s priorities, with flexibility incorporated for a changing environment.”

The deal is based on the standard contract documentation developed as part of the highways maintenance efficiency programme (HMEP), which is a sector-led initiative designed to maximise returns from investment in highways maintenance services.

Central Bedfordshire Council director of community services Marcel Coiffait said: “Ringway Jacobs provided the council with the most economical and advantageous tender and their efficient way of working will enable us to better communicate with residents.”

The collaboration will drive continuous improvement in both productivity and quality of the roads within Central Bedfordshire and will also make it easier for the council to respond to residents.

Ringway Jacobs managing director Mike Notman said: “Our experience and collaborative approach means we will work closely alongside the council to develop an efficient and effective highways service required to meet the residents’ needs.”
