Solaris Bus & Coach goes on to strengthen its position when it comes to the Swedish market. VR Sverige AB, which happens to be one of the key public transport operators in Sweden, has gone on to order 81 low-entry solar Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric buses. The new buses are likely to join the fleet serving the Stockholm region from the second quarter of next year in 2026.

Solar Urbino 15 LE electric buses have been designed when it comes to both urban and suburban transport. The buses, when it comes to VR, will be homologated in class II, which means that they will primarily function on intercity as well as metropolitan routes.

Each vehicle is going to be equipped with high-capacity Solaris high-energy batteries to ensure a sufficient range.

Solar Urbino 15 LE electric buses will be offering high-quality travel comfort, interiors that are very spacious, and also advanced driver assistance systems, which go to elevate the safety and convenience features. And above all, these buses would produce zero emissions at the point of use and hence contribute when it comes to the development of modern as well as sustainable public transport.

According to the CEO of Solaris Sverige, Sverre Skaar, they are very pleased with the way things are going, as VR operator has chosen Solaris as the supplier when it comes to 81 electric buses across the Swedish capital. They have also successfully delivered 23 x E15LE to the city of Kristianstad in 2024, and this deal in another important region makes them extremely happy.

He adds that VR is a new customer to them and is convinced that both passengers and drivers are going to enjoy the comfort when it comes to their vehicles. The purchase, when it comes to such a large fleet of zero-emission electric buses, holds a prominent contribution in terms of the development of sustainable transport across the Stockholm area.

VR Sverige AB’s Bus Director, Anders Frykman, says that finding electric buses that meet their clients’ strict requirements is indeed a barrier, and hence they are indeed pleased and also satisfied to continue having Solaris as one of their suppliers. He added that they are indeed satisfied with the deliveries that Solaris has made for their contract, which took place in Kristianstad, and hence they look forward to a similar continued fruitful collaboration.

It is well to be noted that their contract with VR Sverige goes on to mark yet another step towards mobility that is based on zero emissions within the region, thereby underscoring the rising role of electric transport in Sweden.

With this order taking place, Stockholm will have an overall 225 Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric buses in functionality. For the unversed, Solaris Bus & Coach is one of the leading manufacturers of buses and trolleybuses in Europe, and they specialize in modern and zero-emission transport solutions. Significantly, in 2024, the company went on to sell 1525 vehicles, out of which 83% were battery-electric, trolleybuses, hydrogen, and hybrid buses.
