Hubbard Construction wins four road infrastructure contracts in Florida

AI Summary

Vinci subsidiary Hubbard Construction has secured four contracts from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the US with a combined value of $200m.

The contracts are part of a $10bn Florida transportation plan unveiled in January in order to help accelerate the state’s economic growth.

The FDOT infrastructure projects are designed to refurbish and expand the state’s roads and highways to accommodate traffic growth.

The largest of the four is a $92.5m contract on State Road 528 in Orlando, which will see a 6.5km section of expressway widened from Florida’s Turnpike to the I-4.

The contract also includes widening of six bridges, comprehensive refurbishment of two bridges and construction of two new access bridges.

Hubbard will also be supplying and placing more than a million tonnes of asphalt mix for the I-4 Ultimate Improvement project over the coming six years.

The $74m I-4 project in central Florida includes renovation and widening of the 24km section between Orlando and Longwood, which will be widened to ten lanes, including four toll express lanes.

The other contracts are $21.5m of lane upgrades on International Drive (I-Drive) in Orange County and the $15.8m of reconstruction and widening of a 2.4 km section of Florida State Road 21.

The ‘I-Drive’ project includes recycling of 16km of lanes, construction of 8km of additional lanes and development of pedestrian bridges, in addition to landscaping, drainage, road sign and road marking works.
