The logistics company HOYER has been honoured by its customer Covestro with the distinction of “Best Supplier” in the “Cost Transformation” category.

The chemicals company awarded the prize to the Hamburg full-service provider for its successful outsourcing and takeover of logistics in the Brunsbüttel plant.

Not only careful preparation and on-schedule implementation of the outsourcing project, which was carried out in 2012, but also the professional support during the change processes in the factory were emphasised during the prize award ceremony. HOYER provides logistics services associated with loading and unloading liquid chemical products into/from vessels, railway tank wagons, road tankers and tank containers. The Hamburg contract logistics specialist is also responsible for the entire tank management, storage, preparatory maintenance and repair, operation of the railway in the plant and gate services.

Collaboration between HOYER and Covestro in the Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) business line has intensified steadily in the past few years. For example, the HOYER Group also took over on-site logistics at Covestro’s Shanghai site a year ago. Previous to that, the logistics company already provided transport services nationally and internationally for this customer. Covestro, headquartered in Leverkusen and employing a workforce of around 15,800, is one of the world’s leading plastics manufacturers. When the production plants are complete, Covestro will operate Europe’s biggest production centre for MDI, an important component of rigid foam plastics, on the site at the Brunsbüttel industrial park.

Covestro presents the Supplier Award to honour its best service providers in a total of four categories. The prize in the “Cost Transformation” category recognises the aspiration to transform pure costs into added value from which both the chemicals company and its service provider can derive profit.

About the HOYER Group:
