Hague awards €300m road contract to BAM

AI Summary

The Dutch city of Hague has awarded a €300m contract to BAM for the design, construction and maintainenance of the Rotterdamsebaan road project.

The contract covers for a period of 15 years.

The work will be undertaken by a joint venture between BAM Infra and BAM’s German tunnel specialist Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau, reported The Construction Index.

“The Rotterdamsebaan road project is expected to make the Hague region better accessible.”

The 4km-long Rotterdamsebaan road project will connect motorway at the Ypenburg interchange (A4/A13) and the Hague’s Binckhorst-Centrum-Scheveningen area, which is also known as central zone.

Construction of the road will begin next year and is likely to be completed by 2020.

The Rotterdamsebaan road project is expected to make the Hague region better accessible by linking the A4 /A13 motorways and the city centre ring road, which will result in better traffic distribution to and from the highways, as well as reduce congestion on the Utrechtsebaan road.

The Rotterdamsebaan will have an 1.8km of underground portion that will run under the Westvlietweg, Voorburg-West, the Forum Hadriani archaeological site and the Binckhorst harbour.

Last month, the National Roads Authority (NRA, also known as the Transport Infrastructure Ireland) and a consortium of BAM-PGGM have reached a financial close on the M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy PPP project in Ireland.

The €400m project includes the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of 31.4km of dual carriageway, including M11 and N80 link roads.
