McPhy Energy to design hydrogen storage for Fincantieri’s H2 mobile vessels

AI Summary

France-based developer of hydrogen-based solutions McPhy Energy has signed a deal with Fincantieri of Italy to design hydrogen storage for vessels powered by hydrogen.

The design will be the first prototype in the field of sea H2 mobility, claims the company.

Head of Fincantieri submarine design department, Gerardo Borgogna, said the company is pleased to collaborate with McPhy Energy and to benefit from their global knowledge, combining its technology for hydrogen storage to all safety features.

“This is a key project for Fincantieri development towards the green energy technology decreasing the environmental impact of sea mobility,” Borgogna said.

McPhy Energy sales director Diana de Rosmini said the company is pleased to be working with a shipbuilder that pushes for green energy economy on the sea, which will be possible with a competitive viable green hydrogen infrastructure.

McPhy energy board member and executive vice-president Adamo Screnci said that this partnership shows that hydrogen provides green solutions not only to terrestrial transports, but also to sea and air mobility.

“This is one of the first industry move on this field of sea mobility, and working together with Fincantieri is a great value for McPhy Energy, and will bring us real technology advantages on the market,” Screnci said.

“It is also the starting point to create a real green hydrogen infrastructure, including storages and local green generation, and McPhy Energy has the solution.”

Established in 2008, McPhy Energy uses techniques to store hydrogen in solid form and produces hydrogen through water electrolysis for the design and manufacture of flexible storage and production equipment.
