According to Maina Kamanda, who chairs Kenya’s parliamentary committee on infrastructure, the national railway corporation “needs to address the decline in standards that has seen Nairobi residents shift from rail to using [road-based] public service vehicles.
†The committee was reported as “challenging the Kenya Railway Corporation (KRC) to embark on its reform programmes for Kenyans to enjoy the full benefits of a rail system.â€
