A Singapore Airlines Airbus A330-300 aircraft suffered an in-flight power loss in both engines on 23 May, but the crew restored normal operations and the aircraft landed without incident.
The aircraft, bearing registration 9V-SSF, was operating flight SQ836 on the Singapore-Shanghai route, says SIA. The incident occurred three and half hours into the flight in bad weather conditions.
“Both engines experienced a temporary loss of power and the pilots followed operational procedures to restore normal operation of the engines,†the airline adds.
“The flight continued to Shanghai and touched down uneventfully at 10:56pm local time…the engines were thoroughly inspected and tested upon arrival in Shanghai with no anomalies detected. We are reviewing the incident with Rolls-Royce and Airbus.”
Flightglobal’s Ascend Fleets database shows that 9V-SSF is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60EP engines. It is managed by BBAM LLC, and owned by Meridian Aviation partners. Airbus handed over the aircraft on 30 March 2015.
SIA operates 31 A330-300s, all with Trent 772B-600EP power plants. It has three additional A330s on order.
