AACO, SITA, Amadeus Join Forces on Aviation Sustainability

Arab Air Carriers’ Organization (AACO), SITA, and Amadeus have launched a joint effort aimed at sharpening the accuracy and transparency of sustainability data across the aviation sector. Their work centres on enabling airlines and travellers to better understand the environmental footprint of air journeys, with the broader goal of reinforcing the trust necessary for long-term climate action. The three organisations frame the initiative as a practical step toward giving the industry clearer tools for environmental decision-making.

At the core of the collaboration are two technology systems brought together for the first time. SITA Eco Mission uses real-world aircraft performance and operational inputs to calculate emissions and fuel burn, while the Amadeus Travel Impact Suite compiles carbon data sourced from multiple sources and standards. By linking these capabilities, the partners intend to offer the wider ecosystem detailed emissions metrics that can support more informed choices, including efforts such as carbon offsetting. Their shared approach also reflects growing pressure on aviation to provide verified information as aviation sustainability expectations rise among passengers and regulators.

SITA for Aircraft CEO Yann Cabaret, noted, “This partnership reflects the spirit of collaboration our industry needs. Trust between passengers and airlines begins with transparency. By combining Amadeus’ travel technology solutions with our operational data, we’re exploring how verified information can give airlines and passengers greater confidence in reporting data related to sustainability. It’s an important first step that shows how major players in the industry can come together to drive real progress.”

“This collaboration adds another trusted emissions calculation source, ensuring the industry has relevant, accurate, and transparent sustainability data. By exploring how verified operational insights can flow into our open, partner-agnostic solution, Travel Impact Suite, we aim to help airlines, travel agencies, corporations, and travelers better understand the environmental impact of each flight. This empowers them to make more informed choices about which flight to book or which climate actions to take, and to report consistently across channels,” said Maher Koubaa, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit, and Managing Director, EMEA, at Amadeus.

The partners emphasize that linking operational data with passenger-facing tools can help turn aviation sustainability commitments into measurable outcomes as airlines face new regulatory demands and rising operational pressures.

As interest in transparent environmental reporting continues to grow, this initiative illustrates how coordinated innovation can help aviation move toward a more consistent and credible sustainability framework.
