This is a big step forward for Dubai as it tries to rethink how people get about in the city and use new, eco-friendly transport systems. Dubai has successfully completed the first test flight of the Joby Aerial Taxi in the area.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, and Chairman of the Executive Council, said this on Monday. He is also the Crown Prince of Dubai. Sheikh Hamdan described the achievement as a “major step” toward launching full aerial taxi operations next year.
“Dubai has successfully completed the region’s first test flight of the Joby Aerial Taxi,” he said.
“Conducted through a collaboration between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority and Joby Aviation, the test flight marks a major step toward launching full operations next year.”
Joby Aviation, which is based in California, designed an all-electric, vertical take-off and landing plane that claims to help make urban transit more efficient and sustainable by cutting down on emissions and trip times.
To promote the United Arab Emirates’ larger ambition of becoming a worldwide centre for innovation and the adoption of revolutionary technology, Sheikh Hamdan noted the program as “a new leap in environmentally friendly urban mobility.”
He made the statement that “Our nation’s skies have opened to new possibilities,” “And the best is yet to come.”
Dubai is working on a greater plan to change the way people get about, ease traffic congestion, and make the city a leader in smart city planning and next-generation infrastructure. The city’s use of aerial mobility is a component of this plan.
