Smart mobility in a smart city context refers to using modes of transportation that are varied such as ride-sharing, car-sharing, public transportation, walking, biking, and more. It is thereby understood that the reason for having a smart mobility outlook has arisen from increasing traffic, fuel cost, pollution, and even time wastage.

Smart mobility no wonder is a thought for a cleaner, safer and more efficient travel. The concept includes a wide range of efficient transportation ranging from scooters to bicycles, buses to subways, and the list keeps on growing. These transportation facilities are not essentially run by the Government only but also through public-private partnerships. In fact, many private organizations have effectively partnered to provide smart mobility in various smart cities.

Smart mobility today has already started making inroads across various cities as the benefits drawn from it have been exceptional, few of them are listed below:

Safe

Smart mobility is considered to be very safe as the fatalities and injuries are drastically reduced.

Clean

The mobility focuses more on zero-emission so as to leave no carbon footprint. Green technology is the foundation on which smart mobility is built.

Integration

Under the smart city gamut, there is not a single place within the city which does not get benefited out of transport integration. Regardless of whichever mode of transport that is being used, every nook and corner is catered to with utmost efficiency.

Less time consumption

Due to smart mobility, the travel time gets reduced making the various modes of transport a big hit among the smart city citizens.

Flexibility

The best part of smart mobility is that one can choose from a variety of modes of transport that are best suited as per the time or a given situation.

To sum it all, smart cities do not respond to the havoc created from traffic by building more roads, but instead, they seek more novel options, smart mobility and navigation being a couple of them.

Smart navigation, on the other hand, enables users to finds out the fastest travel routes possible. As expected, there is immense scope for IoT and related technologies when we talk of Smart navigation. Usage of apps, web apps and sensors are some of the many tools which are used under the smart navigation umbrella. Rapid urbanization has made the overall city topography complex but the smart city concept has indeed found a way out to minimize or in fact even eradicate the issues faced by the population.

Apps today are available on all mobile platforms, thanks to the various IT developers who have developed user-friendly applications that assist citizens in solving there traveling woes.

Android, IOS and data service providers have all come together to make the life of the user seamless. One can easily get to know the direction of the destination just at a click of a button.

The best part of using navigation technology is that it is very reliable. All the navigation service providers have prioritized authenticity and efficiency more than anything else.
