British Airways welcomes latest A380

AI Summary

Last night, British Airways took delivery of its tenth A380, registration LEJ, when it touched down at Heathrow at 20:55 local time.

The first, registration LEA, arrived with the airline in July 2013 and subsequent aircraft have arrived at the rate of approximately one every three months.

British Airways is expecting its final two superjumbos in 2016, which will take the total number of A380s in the airline’s fleet to 12.

British Airways’ A380s accommodate 469 customers across four cabins.

The First cabin has 14 suites on the main deck. Club World (business class) customers can choose from 44 seats on the main deck, or 53 seats on the upper deck.

The 55 World Traveller Plus (premier economy) seats are located on the upper deck while World Traveller (economy) customers can choose seats on both the main and upper deck.

The aircraft’s innovative design makes it much quieter during take-off and landing and 16 per cent more fuel efficient than a Boeing 747.

The A380 now flies to Singapore, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington.
