The US-based Concrete Placing Company has emerged as the apparent low bidder for the I-84, Meridian Interchange reconstruction project in US state of Idaho.
In a bidding process that was opened on 4 March, Concrete Placing Company placed the lowest bid of $50.8m for the project.
The project will see Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) replace the interchange with a Single-Point Urban Interchange.
Meridian Road will also be widened to three through lanes in both directions between Central Drive and Overland Road.
The roadway will consist of dual-left turn lanes for each I-84 ramp, along with curb, gutter, sidewalks and bicycle lanes.
The project also comprises widening of Interstate 84 to four lanes in both directions under the interchange, along with replacing pavement on I-84 between Meridian Road and Five Mile Road.
Construction on the project is scheduled to commence in mid-April, with completion expected by late 2015.
Idaho’s Meridian interchange, which was built in 1965, has seen significant growth, from a daily intersection total of 10,650 in 1966 to the current 128,000.
The I-84, Meridian Interchange reconstruction project will be funded with savings from the Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) Transportation Program, as well as regular federal funds.
