Switzerland-based PROMAR has ordered two platform supply vessels (PSVs) from Damen Shipyards, with the aim of expanding its offshore fleet under management over the next five years.
The first of the two PSVs, Damen PSV 3300, will be delivered in February 2015 and the second in August 2015.PROMAR chartering supervisor Olivier Meynis de Paulin said the company is plans to enlarge its fleet, with the priority of offering high-quality vessels to its charter clients.
“Our tailor-made, commercial approach will enable us to expand in a way where we can respond to real market demand,” de Paulin said.
Both the ships will be built in-line with North Sea standards.de Paulin said the PROMAR PSV 3300 is being tailored to meet or exceed the expectations of the company’s clients.
The new ship will have specifications, such as fire-fighting capabilities, remote operated vehicle (ROV) preparations, oil spill detection radar and a tank heating system.
Damen North, West and South Europe sales area sales manager Andrea Trevisan said that in addition to innovative, technical features the PSV 3300 design ensures reliability and good sea keeping behaviour, which reduces downtime.
“Crews and engineers from the oil majors want to work on such a vessel, they know it is safe, with a high level of comfort,” Trevisan said.
The company will use both the vessels in the West African market, where it has been chartering since 2002.
de Paulin said that bringing the standards of the PSV 3300 to African countries will provide a valuable competitive edge.
“In addition, the design and the level of comfort proposed by these vessels are definitely an important advantage,” de Paulin added.
Established in 2002, PROMAR currently has a fleet of multi-purpose supply vessels (MPSVs) and fast crew boats under management.
