Ekol Logistics covers all of Turkey with a comprehensive distribution network and they are Blue Water’s new partner with an intermodal set-up to and from Turkey. The reasons for prefering intermodal transports include the passability and the environmental effects. Express service can even be combined with the intermodal set-up and reduce the transit time from for instance Istanbul to Taulov, Denmark to only four and a half days.
“Intermodal transport is environmentally friendly, shortens the transit time and makes it possible for us to maintain reliability of delivery also during the summer, where the European roads are very congested. Also, the increasing lack of drivers has been a contributing factor to our changing the set-up”, says Carsten Albæk Olsen, Manager for Business Development at Blue Water Herning.
Developing the cooperation
The agreement became effective as of 1 May and is expected to develop positively.
“The first step in our cooperation is the direct connection between Turkey and Denmark and perhaps we can add further countries in the future. Blue Water is a very strong organisation, and we are sure that this cooperation will benefit our clients. We can now offer a better service between the two countries”, says Sait Kurtulus, Trade Lanes Management Director for Ekol Logistics.
