It is well to be noted that U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff’s bipartisan bill in order to advance the development of hydrogen energy when it comes to aviation has gone on to pass a key U.S. Senate Committee.

Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Lindsey Graham, as well as Congressman Hank Johnson’s bipartisan Hydrogen Aviation Strategy Act passed the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee as part of the 2024 Federal Aviation Administration- FAA reauthorization.

The bipartisan bill will jumpstart public along with private sector engagement in order to advance the study as well as development of hydrogen energy for usage in aviation.

It is well to be noted that hydrogen energy happens to be a promising opportunity to create Georgia jobs, make American energy security more robust, and at the same time decrease greenhouse gas emissions in many sectors, such as transportation, remarked Sen.Ossoff said. He added that this week, they went on to advance the bipartisan bill so as to strengthen research and innovation when it comes to hydrogen as a next-generation fuel for the aviation industry.

Evaluating and ascertaining the usage of hydrogen as part of the solution in order to decarbonize the aviation industry is a win-win, opines Rep. Hank Johnson, who is a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and also the Aviation Subcommittee. He adds that it results in good-paying jobs, many of them union jobs, and also greater energy security, as well as a pathway to meeting their vision of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the U.S. by 2050. He appreciates his working with Sen. Ossoff as well as Sen. Graham so as to make this bipartisan throttle in order to make things in America.

It is worth noting that the bipartisan Hydrogen Aviation Strategy Act will go on to require the FAA to set up new goals for hydrogen energy usage in aviation; require the agency to get in consultation with NASA, sector partners, airlines, as well as hydrogen producers when it comes to the advancement of this new technology; come up with a new advisory committee so as to develop recommendations on hydrogen adoption as an aviation energy source; and at the same time establish a pathway for certification of hydrogen-powered aircraft.

Sen. Ossoff goes on to work to make American energy security robust through championing hydrogen energy research as well as investments for the State of Georgia and also the Southeast.

In 2023, Sen. Ossoff as well as Tim Echols, Georgia Public Service Commissioner, went on to launch the Georgia Hydrogen Energy Braintrust in January in order to strengthen energy security as well as attract new economic investments to the state.

A year before that, in 2022, Sen. Ossoff went on to convene a round table with leaders across higher education, aviation, transportation, business, etc. in order to discuss advancing hydrogen energy innovation across Georgia.
